UPDATE - Muskoka Tourism numbers up more than 10%
MUSKOKA – First reports from Muskoka tourism operators indicate 2007 is on track to deliver outstanding results.
“The new Muskoka Wharf, and the ongoing development of Red Leaves, are generating both interest and business,” said John Klinck, Mayor of Gravenhurst. “Operators are telling us their traffic is up anywhere from ten per cent to 30 per cent, depending upon the type of business.”
Regional economic development officials say visitors are staying longer, and are doing more in the region, than in previous years.
“Weather has been a factor, but we’re reaching critical mass for people as well,” said Klinck. “It’s definitively been a strong year for return of investment in the sector.”
