Niagara: Pairing Wines and Celebrity
A growing number of celebrities now have a stake in the Niagara wine business. In 2005, famed actor and comedian Dan Aykroyd invested $1 million in Niagara Cellars Inc., a company which owns four wineries, wine marketing, sales and distribution businesses.
Last year, Creekside Estate Winery of Jordan Station partnered with Canadian golf superstar Mike Weir to launch the Mike Weir Estate Winery. The winery is focused on producing premium quality wines with net proceeds from wine sales going to the Mike Weir Foundation, a charitable organization which supports Canadian children in need.
